Hey All,
Things currently are extremely busy! I have just returned back from the final Winter Retreat. We have had a wonderful February here in Allen Park, Michigan. Aside from the 3 feet of snow at the church camp, we had lots of different camps go up over different weekends including a family camp, our middle school youth connection (pictured below) and our high school youth connection. A weekend of sledding, snowball fights and spirituality is the perfect tonic for those “winter blues.” It definitely brings to close a busy month!
The highlight of February for me was most certainly the first Sunday during Lent when I taught the Youth Connections how to make a pancake, like we make them, with lemon juice and sugar as a topping! I have had a lot of parents come up to me since and tell me I’m coming to their house to tidy the mess their kids are now making!! It was exciting to see something from back home blend with my new lifestyle here!
The Church itself is in an exciting time. They are looking at extending their large buildings to include a “family life centre.” The past couple of months have seen discussions and forums to gauge response with an EGM and vote scheduled for Palm Sunday.
With Easter happening earlier this year plans are well underway for all-nighters; sunrise services…and dare I say summer! Our Summer plans are at an advanced stage with an intergenerational church trip heading to Pennsylvania in the middle of June, followed by an entire month of 3 year olds to 103 year olds heading up to our Camp for various weeks of activities and to finish things off we have a High School group heading to Montreat, North Carolina for the American equivalent of Summer Madness! Lots to keep me busy!!
With all that business its nice to find some time to relax and so I am off to play a soccer match!
Love and best wishes from USA,
Steve
